Big Day For Rogers Media Monday: CityNews Channel Launches, Plus Rogers Sportsnet Expands and Rebrands
There probably is a lot of buzz in Toronto at Rogers Media headquarters and 33 Dundas Street this weekend, as Rogers gets ready for a day of launches Monday. On Monday you will see CityNews Channel launch, Rogers Sportsnet relaunch as simply Sportsnet, and Setanta Sports rebrand to Sportsnet World.
CityNews Channel will combine the unusual Citytv format with the successful 680 News’ news wheel. The popular weather and traffic on the :1s, sports at :15 and :45, and business at :26 and :56 past the hour will air on the channel all day long, starting off bright and early at 5:30 on BT. Besides the news wheel format all day long, CityNews Channel will air simulcasts of Citytv’s Breakfast Television, CityNews at 5, 6, and Tonight. Following BT and CityNews Tonight, the channel will air another exclusive half hour of each program, at 9 and 11:30 respectively. CityNews Channel will air on Rogers Cable channel 1, with others hopefully coming soon.
Also on the launching topic, when Rogers Sportsnet launches as Sportsnet World, a rebrand of Setanta Sports, it will air the same programming as Setanta does but just under a new name.
Now to Rogers Sportsnet its self. On Monday you can expect a more appealing Rogers Sportsnet, as it launches as Sportsnet. The channel will be “Fueled by Fans”, and will bring more modern and contemporary graphics, music and studios.
