SUN News Network Back on Bell

SUN News Network is thanking its Bell customers for there crying and pleading to get SUN News back on Bell, because starting December 15th SUN News will be back on Bell TV and Bell Fibe TV.

This protest started back in May when Quebecor demanded Bell to drop SUN TV (which SUN News was simulcast on) because Quebecor wanted SUN News Network to be carried as a specialty channel so they could get fee-for-carriage. But, since SUN News Network is a category-2 channel it is not mandatory for a BDU to carry SUN News. And that caused outrage among SUN News’ fans.

Starting December 15th SUN News Network will be on channel 506 on Bell Satellite TV and on channels 531 and 1531 (HD) on Bell Fibe TV.

CityNews Channel Finds Permanent Home

CityNews Channel announced today that the young all-news channel has found a permanent home in Toronto, on cable channel 15.

CityNews Channel launched back on October 3rd on Rogers Cable channel one.

The move will happen tomorrow.

Global BC News Team Changes

Global BC today announced several on-air changes to its news team, highlighted by the shift of Randene Neill and Squire Barnes to News Hour Final. Also, Noon News Hour and the Weekend Morning News will see new faces, all this effective today.

With former Noon News Hour anchors moving to News Hour Final, current Morning News co-anchor Sophie Lui and sportscaster Jay Durrant will be the new Noon News Hour team. Former News Hour Final anchor, Jill Krop will be launching a new web project called Trending. Jill will investigate the top trending stories on the internet, and then bring the stories to The Early News and News Hour.

Lynn Colliar, who was on maternity leave, is now the new anchor of the Weekend Morning News and the Weekend Noon News Hour beginning this Saturday.

“As the province’s leading news team, Global BC is continuously looking for ways to better deliver timely and unparalleled news to viewers in new and dynamic ways,” said Troy Reeb, Vice-President, Global News. “These on-air shifts help redefine Global BC in order to better deliver the news across the province to keep viewers informed.”

SUN TV Officially Kaput

The CRTC has approved TVA Group Inc.’s request for the revocation if the SUN TV (CKXT-TV) license in Toronto Ontario, as well as its rebroadcasting transmitters in London, Hamilton and Ottawa.

SUN TV has had a turbulent past couple of years. After cutting almost all new programming for repeats, TVA Group turned the SUN TV signal into a complete simulcast of the newly launched SUN News Channel.
